Deepseek R1 is pretty decent, Claude is a bit quicker but I like the results from Deepseek a bit better, at least when it comes to summarizing my shift notes for work.
It'll be interesting to see if it pairs well with cursor.ai, would be great to have a more advanced reasoning model parse through my coding demands.
I use LLM's pretty much every day, or at least try to. Switching to a more powerful and open source LLM as a daily driver would be pretty incredible.
Playing around with trymaple.ai as well, they only have one model but its llama's open source and its from the old mutiny team, so its probably worth a 2 buck subscription to see where things go.
The kagi subscription might fall off, hardly use the thing anymore.
The CASCDR youtube summarizer is missed.
I mainly use AI for
1. Summarizing, extending and elaborating on my work notes.
2. Answering specific questions
3. Organizing rambling thoughts jotted in my obsidian vault
4. Coding
5. Writing
I'll probably be looking toward AI personal assistant type stuff. The privacy concerns are definitely there, but I ain't throwing sensitive information in the thing, and the tools I'm using are a bit more privacy focused and open source anyway. I'm tempted to throw all of my obsidian notes at a self hosted LLM and have it help organize some of my thoughts/ideas/schedule/goals. I could see that getting pretty dystopian if used incorrectly or naively, but the productivity gains and clarity it would give would be pretty remarkable, I have years of notes that could be synthesized to give me a bunch of valuable insight.
Thanks,
Hustle
