Here's the thing, Craig had 15 books to build a satisfying story, and it's not as though there was too much to fit in, the majority of each book was what most would call "filler" material. And don't get me wrong, that "filler" is a big part of the series' charm, but clearly he failed to strike a good balance between the crew goofing off in their free time, and advancing the actual plot.

I just don't see what 3 books will add that he couldn't have already done in the first 15. Frankly I foresee a lot of retcons to try and make a lot of the anticlimactic ends to archs in #15 more interesting, and to hastily tie up the many loose ends that were left at the end of the finale.

Maybe I'm wrong, and it will rekindle my love for the series and all will be well. I certainly hope that's the case, because I WANT to love the series again, I guess we'll find out in December
