I'm currently thinking do full drive backups, boot from live CD, reformat / and /home as efts4, do restores to / and /home, tweak /etc/default/grub and /etc/fstab, reboot?

Otherwise as I think I said before, it'd be the full reinstall. Do-able, but a pain getting everything back 'just-so'.
