I was a mall goth myself for many years, and I think that something beautiful was lost within that subculture. Vapid "intellectuals" (I am NOT referring to Molly here, but to e.g. David Brooks) write dirges to the lack of "third places" but then openly deride the people who make concerted efforts to inhabit them (furries, mall goths, game-store tabletop gamers) and make us all feel juvenile and silly for attempting to carve out a place for public self-expression
