Telling people what Mastodon has got going for it vs. the alternatives can be useful advocacy but making it better is even more so.
I agree with everything you mentioned as issues, for onboarding I’d say better discovery would be good in general but certainly some of the tips that people post to help new users ought to really be something that Mastodon guides you to do.
I’ve been thinking a lot about building topical content feeds etc. that can help discovery recently. I think your #fedionfire project could help with that too.
