When I came back from the hospital after my kidney failure, Inkwell the cat became my constant nurse. He would be near me on the bed, and if I groaned too much, he'd go fetch my husband, meowing at him frantically. When I was able to walk, he'd be next to me, purring encouragement. He slept near me on the bed, and if I cried, he'd come over and purr near my ear.
I feel like I owed a lot of my recovery to that wonderful little furball, rest in peace.
