The thing is, I can't help feeling that not one of the dudes who would never abuse a woman, physically or mentally, would struggle to understand the reality of the bear comparison, or the justification for the generalisation. That they personally were an exception would be neither here nor there. They would simply be heartbroken that so many of their male peers are a threat to women that the potential must be considered in any of them
