Why should Elon Musk get to decide whether we fight cancer or not? Why should he get to decide when we feed people? That's the scummy thing about philanthropy. If someone has a vast enough wealth to (say) help under-fed and under-housed children, then other people are far more qualified and worthy of deciding what to do with that wealth than the philanthropist. You really think Carnegie made all those libraries for the good of mankind?
