The only real exceptions to this are Reddit and Youtube, where the companies behind them are purposefully trying to gimp your experience to tempt you into using their compromised apps. Otherwise, not only can you access much more stuff than with apps, since you're accessing the same internet that's on the desktop and anyone is free to make a website, but you can also have adblockers and tracker blockers, unlike with apps where you're completely compromised in terms of privacy.
