Because the biggest issue with non-bash shells I have is, that when logging into another server, I only have bash available. Sysadmins can probably relate... if you use for example fish on your machine, all remote systems still have bash. Sometimes you cannot alter the shell on the remote system, so you need to know both...
but what if your shell does compile to bash in the background... this way you could use your "frontend shell" and compile to bash and send that to the remote server transparently.
