I gave all my long-term care patients Christmas cards. And gifts for the ones that made the nice list. I have this 85 yr old gal that is pure sunshine. Her smile and eyes when she sees me is one of the most amazing wonders of this realm. Seriously. No matter how stressed I am, just seeing her smile fills me with joy. Anyways, she read the card and loved it. Then she said, "Thank you so much, but who is Brittany?"
Lmfao. I said I was and we laughed. Then she said, "I don't know why but I thought your name was Bridget."
Oddly enough, I've heard that all my life. Weird.
One more thing. If you have a loved one with dementia, I'm sending you the biggest hug full of love and compassion. Just remember, they may not always remember your name, but they will remember your face.
