#Aylin, the helper dog of a blind friend, which I walk twice a week, had surgery. We were afraid that she might have cancer. But luckily, the results came back negative, it wasn't cancer and she is well again.
And today, for the first time ever(?) I'll be walking her on a Saturday, my wife and I are excited to see Aylin again, after two weeks of hiatus, and I am sure Aylin is even more excited.
And the blind friend? Well, her words: "I'm ok if Aylin is ok, I don't need anything else to be ok."
NB: Aylin is, technically, already retired. But unfortunately, she can't officially retire because then the organization behind wouldn't get any money for her anymore. And that would've required my friend, M--, to get a new helper dog so that the organization keeps getting money. Thus, a decision was taken: Aylin will never retire - officially - but won't work anymore, unless absolutely necessary. And so Aylin enjoys her "non-retirement" and once or twice a week, she "works" by leading M-- to the doctor or to the post office. My friend M-- herself is already retired long time ago, so they spend the time together, the two amazing old ladies...
