Abusers put on a friendly face in public while being horrible in private. And there's so little to be gained FROM speaking up BECAUSE nobody believes.
So I always take people's accounts of mistreatment seriously. They matter a lot to me- because the truth IS sad and hard to face, it's important TO face it.
