Yep, couldn’t agree more. There are so many arguments to their mindset, but none matter to them unless it’s matched with dollar signs. Simply a low-growing native flower patch that is allowed to reseed itself would be far more efficient and significantly less maintenance (if any at all), and it would benefit the local ecology.
Another idea is to privatize these strips of grass to small scale farms. Free maintenance for the city, profit for the farmer, and benefits local ecology and community.
Here’s to hoping minds change.
