There were absolutely major winds blowing over trees and power lines, per the images below.
They did close the highways in and out from Tuesday - Thursday, Friday they let residents and tourists needed to get their stuff back in. They closed the highways because the trees, power lines and fires littered them.
I did not see any military, FEMA or government personnel, only local police and locals provide if food, shelter and water. We stayed at a shelter at the high school there, again, no government shelter.
It was a bit odd all phones, power and internet went out, and was still out on that side of the island when we left… Apparently they only have one cell tower for all carriers on that side..
I believe the amount of damage was caused by horrible emergency response planning and shit infrastructure.. DEWs we’re not even needed, it was just a total shit show…
