You Will Never Know Why (nprofile…pz9v) Christi Junior (nprofile…d6d2) Rasterman (nprofile…paqn) kinda. Biggest N64 problem was that Nintendo was already a full greedy company who wanted full control of the media type because they wanted to "avoid piracy".
So instead of the relatively cheap CDs that could hold 700MB of data so the devs could put all their textures and FMVs inside and be happy, Nintendo, in its infinite wisdom, decided to go for fucking cartridges that could hold 30MB.
"Oh, but cartridges were way faster, CDs had long loading times." Nobody cared. People were waiting 10 minutes for the fucking JRPG to load because it had a cool anime intro and then you could use special moves that took half an hour of animation to complete and you could show it off to your friends. And people were crapping at the lack of textures in N64 games and them being "ugly" back in the 90's too.
So yeah, players were retards that got mesmerized by flashy animations and sperged about "muh graphics" back then too, and devs knew that and they went for the system that allowed them to do flashy shit.
