I can't make the proactive auth or "always" auth default because I do not want to make noStrudel prompt the user to sign anything without them first taking an action
I dislike the behavior of all other nostr clients where they are built assuming they can ask the user to sign anything at any moment. noStrudel will never do that
The best I can do to make the UX better is give the user more options to set "always" or turn on the proactive auth
