Throughout modern history, there have been a number of genuinely important revolutionary new inventions and ideas that have had wide-ranging impact. Computing, general relativity, the Internet, mass production, take your pick. None of them required everyone across multiple unrelated disciplines to drop everything and start working on them or suddenly change everything they do. Even inside the fields these things came from, most people just calmly continued doing whatever they were already doing.
