MAHDOOD on Nostr: Why is it frowned upon for a man to sign a prenup and protect his financial security ...

Why is it frowned upon for a man to sign a prenup and protect his financial security when women protect their financial security by delaying marriage in order to pursue an education/career? That education is their fallback plan in case things don’t work out with YOU. And half of all marriages end in divorce so the odds are not good for you anyway. If she really loved you, she would’ve dropped out of school to have your babies. Most women don’t even consider marriage before they have some type of career. Think about that next time a woman tries to make you feel bad for wanting a prenup. Would you flip a coin to determine whether you lose half your money or keep it all? That’s essentially what you are doing when you get married without a prenup. There’s a 50% chance you lose half your money which is a coin toss. Flip the script on her: if she won’t marry you because you want a prenup then ask if she actually loves you?

Fwiw, I don’t like the idea of signing any contract that places the government as the middleman. Opt out of getting married altogether and establish a partnership that is fair according to both of your standards. If your partner is raising your children, she should be compensated for that. Pay her for it. Negotiate what is fair and reasonable for both of you. That way she can accumulate her own money and wealth. And if things don’t work out between you, she can walk away with what she earned. At any time. There is no coercion. You’re not tied to some creepy ritual that binds you together until death. And there is no cop with a gun forcing anyone to do anything based on the arbitrary judgment of a lawyer wearing a black robe. Everyone is always free to renegotiate whatever compensation they feel they feel they deserve at anytime. And anyone is free to walk away at anytime as well. Your partnership should be voluntary just like the relationship with your employer.
