It’s not really that set in stone. No two gnostic sects agreed on anything they’re characterized as believing because it was never an organized schism like most heretics had.
It was just a continuously mutating mind virus within the laity that came from Platonism, which was more influential than Christianity at the time.
It’s kind of like how racial equity is baked into Christianity now even though the Bible teaches ethnic hierachies, blessings, and curses. It’s not as if there’s a counterchurch that holds these incorrect teachings, it’s just an overarching cultural presupposition that, in the societal hierarchy, comes before Christ (a mistake that will likely condemn us to the same fate as the Gnostics.)
