People talk crap on dumbells, but just the floor, some dumbells, a training program, and some motivation is all you need to get to a point where you eventually NEED a barbell and a rack. For me it took like 2 years of slowly ramping back up to need a rack.
I would keep an eye out for a bench though! It's really helpful for chest pressing, you just need that extra movement.
