While running today, I was thinking about how or what could be done to elevate or set Nostr apart from other social media platforms. Zapping people are already a great differentiator, along with the whole decentralization aspect, etc.
What I found in the US is that a lot of people primarily use Facebook for its “Marketplace“ nowadays. I even reactivated my Facebook account after about seven years of inactivity because I kept hearing about it (I was looking for a road bike in NYC). And now, I’m wondering: why couldn’t Nostr adopt a similar approach? It would be amazing to use it as a shopping/2nd hand platform.
Wouldn’t that gradually encourage people to use their bitcoin/sats and get to use it for real purpose. This would encourage to think in sats instead of any fiat currency.
I’m not a programmer, nor do I have a deep understanding of the engineering side of making something like this work, and perhaps someone is already working on it. I just wanted to put this idea out there for collective consideration.
