We are seeing calls - limited, but high profile - in the UK to prohibit anyone under 16 from having or using (unclear) a smartphone, in the name of child safety.
Leaving aside whether this meets the test of necessity (i.e. will it achieve the stated goal) and proportionality, is not clear how this would work, or what it would entail.
What is a “smartphone”?
Is it different to a “feature phone” with a web browser and Internet connectivity?
Is it different to a tablet?
Or a computer?
