I remember the Harper days - the level of censorship and silencing he tried to exert over government scientists was off the scale. (Largely to shut them up about stuff like the mining of bitumen.)

Friend is a bit "be kind" - thing is, she's also *genuinely* kind so it would feel like kicking a puppy to fall out with her. She can't stand Trudeau but thinks he's "surrounded himself with good people" (AFAIK, he sacked the good people - wasn't there a kerfuffle over his attorney general because she wouldn't go along with covering up his dubious property dealing?) nostr.fmt.wiz.biz
