On Fridays when I have brain cells left at the end of the day, I've been trying to fix the kind of little things that show up as deprecation warnings in logs. I like to think that cuts down on unpleasant surprises, but that's hard to measure, and the reality is that fire-fighting is noticed and rewarded.
My Dad's company set a good example: 4pm on Fridays was stop customer work and clean your work area time. Everyone saw everyone else doing it, so it self-reinforced.
