Sometimes it really does feel like I have just been let in to the group chat of a few big accounts here.

I completely agree with the off putting new user experience. I have never purple pilled anyone successfully for this reason. The experience just is not a good one.

I had an idea for a client the other day that was something like speed dating for nostr in a way. Every day/week whatever it groups some small (half a dozen or so) number of active posters together. For that week they can only see and interact with eachothers posts. Think being stuck in an elevator with people long enough to strike up a conversarion when ordinary you would have just stood there in silence. Maybe you make a friend you decide to "follow" and bring across to your other clients at the end of the week.
