✍️ The US military will separate transgender service members unless they receive an exemption, according to a Pentagon memo filed in court.
👉 The Pentagon will create a procedure to identify troops who are transgender within 30 days
👉 The Pentagon will start to separate transgender service members from the military within 30 days of identifying them
👉 Waivers will be granted only if there is a compelling government interest in retaining the service member and the service member meets certain criteria
👉 The military has about 1.3 million active duty personnel, with transgender rights advocates estimating that there are as many as 15,000 transgender service members
