It seems chatbots are out and the new hotness in AI is autonomous agents (formerly known as workflow automation). It was recently in the news that both Anthropic and Google have been working on AI agents that can browse the web on user's behalf to buy tickets and other tasks.

OpenAI has also been revealed to be working an a tool codenamed "Operator" that can use a computer to take actions on a person’s behalf, such as writing code or booking travel.
