Some of you might be wondering "Where do I get this purple or orange check mark next to my username?". Well, you can't just get it that easily. It's reserved for special users and is awarded as a prize of honor by the official Nostr committee for special achievements and heroic deeds.
But seriously, this is a (NIP-05) verification system based on domains and is basically just a reference to a small JSON file located in the /.well-known/ directory of a domain. You can read more about it here: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/05.md
So, if you're a domain owner, you can create one yourself manually. Or, if you want it to be a bit more convenient, you can use third-party services like https://nostrplebs.com/ or https://nostrcheck.me/.
For WordPress, there's even a plugin that does the work for you: https://wordpress.org/plugins/nostr-verify/
It's set up quickly and if you enter this address in your favorite client under "NIP-05 Verification" (usually somewhere in the profile settings), you'll also get to enjoy the honor of this blue, purple, or orange check.
