More folks should do this themselves.
I let a shop change oil once and only once. They left the dipstick about 1 inch from closed and oil blew back into the engine compartment during a large haul over big mtn passes.
Ive always been ocd on my diesel.
1. Warm engine
2. Gravity drain till no drips.
3. Add 1 qt fresh oil with drain plug open till no longer drips.
4. Install plug, add oil.
I dont know if it really matters, but the totally overloaded gooseneck trailer i haul over multiple i70 colorado mountain passes for hundreds of thousands of miles proves to be a reliable ocd approach.
