Kanye's use of the "Soul Sample" on You Don't Know My Name was Augmented Reality.
Firstly, it's a loop of the piano and backing vocals from Let Me Prove My Love To You by The Main Ingredient. Alicia Keys plays piano so it's easy to assume that she played the piano on this as it's an easy association to make on the same album that she plays the piano and sings If I Ain't Got You.
Secondly, there's a different part in the sampled song where the singer goes "Ow!" which was also used to living up the loop at a later point in You Don't Know My Name. Weird enough that "Ow!" sounds so much like Alicia Keys that even when I listen to the original I think she may have been in the studio when they recorded the original. This part is primed by Alicia talking which setups the part were she talks one the beats gets strapped down.
Thirdly, there's a part in the song where the sample goes out and just guitar, bass, strings and drums play but accompanied by backing vocal (from John Legend) which makes you unsure of whether or not you were listening to a beat that was sampled. Had there instrumental of You Don't Know My Name not have been uploaded I wouldn't have been able to confirm that those John Legend backing vocals are even there because he performed them so much like they were performed on the original. I don't think we will get samples made and remade like this because now producers have access to stems and they may not have the need to get someone to recreate an element of a sample they used so that they can have a breakdown. Necessity is the mother of Creativity.
Unrelated note, to expend the Kanye Instrumental Universe Kanye went on to sample the strings at the end of You Don't Know My Name on a song that Lil Wayne put on The Carter 3.
