A rare situation has been playing out today on Kawau Island, #NewZealand. A pygmy blue #whale has become 'stuck' under a jetty. The whale, approximately 14-15metres long & is thought to be late juvenile. #ProjectJonah have been working with the Department of Conservation in co-ordination with international colleagues & agencies strategising a plan to release the whale. Right now, the welfare of the whale is the priority, with all actions taking into consideration the whales responses.
