OMG. The Government's positive spin on "Absolute poverty: UK sees biggest rise for 30 years" is that if they hadn't done *something* to help people then the increase would be three times worse.
They're basically saying "we've done a really bad job at looking after the citizens of the UK, but hey, we could have been even worse."
