Been seeing a tale of agonizing back pain, and some debate whether it's genuinely something written by the Insurance Adjuster assassin about his mother.

Thing is... I hear screams like that, in this house. One of my best friends has degenerating discs, and sciatica so bad he's lucky to be able to walk at all. His mobility is very limited but he was rejected for disability, and he's too overweight for surgery-- and gets judged for it constantly. He barely leaves the house, he dreads being out in public so much. He's been trying to get an MRI for years. Years.

The misery. Years of misery. So many medications, so many side effects, so much pain. Praying someday he can actually reach a better quality of life, praying he doesn't burn out and give up before he gets that chance. All this after he spent more than a decade nursing his mother through her own agonizing terminal illnesses. He deserves to have a real life someday, to get to enjoy himself someday.

This suffering is the kind of thing we supposedly left behind centuries ago. The knowledge that treatments exist and are available, but we're just not allowed to have them because we're too poor, while the bureaucratic gears gnash us to pieces, is its own very special kind of indignity and brutality.

Honestly, we've been tolerating all of this very, VERY calmly for a long while now.
