As someone who has recently grappled with air conditioning issues during a record setting heat wave I have a few things to say.
1. People should definitely learn how to service their own equipment - even if it just means taking measurements so certified technicians can save time.
2. Chill the house down at night when there’s no solar heat gain & electric cost are typically lower.
3. Use awnings.
4. Use fans to circulate the cool air in the house to avoid hotspots.
