There are many lessons we can learn from the Bolsheviks, sadly, those lessons are negative. We can see how a one party control over the State doesn't bring forth socialism, as the 70 years of history of the Soviet Republic eloquently show. Lenin himself said that without a German revolution the Russian revolution was doomed, and when the German revolution failed to materialize Lenin and his comrades directed their efforts in strengthening the State and their control over it.
