Left on a continent to fend for themselves because they were criminals. They turned out to be pretty resourceful, although I wouldn't say they have a superiority complex... they're just as valuable as European or American citizens and as clever and resourceful as well, in my opinion.
(In other words, it makes no difference... there are geniuses and idiots the world over)
