My favorite part about DEC machines is that they had EXACTLY two connectors, and two connectors only:

40-pin Berg (.1" 2x20 header)
The Slot (Flip Chip, OMNIBUS, Unibus, Massbus ... all exactly the same and utterly incompatible)

Need more pins? USE TWO! Need fewer pins? Don't connect them! Need things that don't blow up when plugged together? ... . .. . . ....... what?
