Why are states needed? So your thoughts are right and good, but why always states? I don't understand why people don't want the most sensible and obvious thing, a solution without states, a confederates community in a free zone, that would end oppression and nationalism permanently, everywhere, or that they dismiss it as nonsense. In a state, violence is fundamentally implicit. It always means that a privileged minority decides over the majority. To ensure this, this monopoly of violence is needed, as if any human being had the right to exercise violence as a monopoly over others. Centuries ago, indigenous communities regulated things completely differently and without the state or police. Of course, white colonialists often forget this or dismiss it as impractical.
State, government, laws, elections are never a compromise of all residents. They can revoke the rights they give you at any time if it benefits them. We experience this every day. So why states.
