I built python 3.8 from source a long time ago so I would have a version that's not going to get fucked up by system updates and now it's telling me it's not configured for tkinter

apparently, before I built python I had to have some special tkinter development package installed on my system or it wouldn't include tkinter

and lol you can't install tkinter from pip, and you sure as fuck can't just copy it into your source tree

I fucking hate modern software so much holy shit. what is "batteries included" about this?
