So #Mastodon can post video and animations, but the official app can't be bothered to implement threading cues; while Bluesky doesn't have video, but has added not only thread cues, but an intended thread view.

If Mastodon wants to be a serious place for thread length interaction, it needs to implement some kind of thread cue in the official apps (and inherited by forks).
