The founder of SSB (if you've heard of it), implemented "epidemic broadcast tree" (plum tree?) ...so its a self healing spanning tree with some redundancy afaik.
i guess cjdns approach is a bit more robust/resilient than yggdrasil, but yggdrasil might be a bit more efficient if the network is really stable.
