Following a big ant around for like 15min (I wanted to see where her nest was) as I slowly realize she has no idea where is is or where she is going either.

To be fair, if you follow an ant and don't start seeing more ants... if she's all alone she is probably VERY lost. That's not to say she'll never get home, but sometimes birds and the wind can make life hard for little ants. (and busses.)
