My favorite ever player was Fernando Torres. 
When he left Atleti for Liverpool, I decided to see what these lads from Liverpool were about. Then I fell in love with the Scousers. I deeply admire their love of their community and their irreverence for authority. I've watched every match since 2007. I know many don't get the 'sportsball' phenomenom, but for me, it's is as much about my admiration for strong communities as it is about the play on the pitch. Though, for fellow math nerds... as a person whose brain intuits the world through spatial geometry, football is a great sport to follow - every match delivers a collision between different geometric forms and approaches to putting a ball in the net (and keeping it out of yours).
