On my Heaven to Hell ride (Mount Evans to Badwater) in August a few years back, I originally planned to wear mesh once I dropped down from Mesquite. Even though it was well after sunset, it was still stupid hot. That's when I learned once you can't cool off, closing everything up actually is cooler. I kept my full jacket on the rest of the ride.
