You'd think you could stop at "functional Y" but you can't. 10% of XX males do not have any detectable SRY. It is thought that they have certain mutations in downstream acting genes (like SOX9).

At the end of the day, sexual differentiation is regulated by complex genetic circuitry (that we may never fully understand in humans). It is probably, for all intents and purposes, impossible to take the two body types and make a crystal clear mapping to chromosomes in way that accounts for every (foreseeable, even) edge case.

I can't think of any condition that defies classification into male and female or either none or both. Swyer is probably your toughest edge case, but doesn't really impose a dilemma in terms of women's spaces.
