For people who want nothing to do with Meta, the anti-Meta region has something that's inherently "better", and they're not saddled with the complexities of working around proprietary tricks. In contrast the "federate with Meta" people will be playing the game on Meta's turf with Meta's rules which they will change as needed -- and Meta can copy whatever they do . It's not impossible to overcome but at least to me it seems a lot harder.
