The problem with the democratic process in “democratic nations” is that these nations are authoritarian states.
Since the democratic process is embedded within the nation states authoritarian system the many positives that come from such a process are nullified.
The democratic process is to keep the states power in check by delegating the decision making to its citizens.
What are the problems?
To begin, the topic on which to delegate to the voters is decided by the state itself.
Secondly, the answers to the topic are decided by the state, usually black and white, with the nuance completely removed and left to the state to figure out after the “main” decision has been made.
Thirdly, just because a majority voted on a certain answer does not in any way make the outcome ethical.*
Finally, every persons freedoms within the states claimed territory may be restricted depending on the result of the vote.**
*If a majority of voters voted ‘yes’ to murder all people with green eyes.
**Not permitted to posses cannabis.
