I love this incident since it's evidence of a human essentially getting in a argument with an ant from 100s of years ago. We know what Robert wanted the ant to do: sit still under bright light as he made his drawing, and what the ant wanted to do: ant stuff.
Their wills crossed, violence in the form of brandy was deployed ... but in the end the ant escaped.
We have an image of the ant.
I hope she made it back to her colony. I wonder what they made of her smelling like badly fermented sugar?
