It's a curious approach. Rather short termist and will potentially kill the geese that lay the golden eggs, but that doesn't seem to bother the greedy few. What might make more sense would be to enrich more people (wealth redistribution) which I suspect would make the rich even richer owing to the increase in the number of people who could afford to consume 🙂 Win-win (but not necessarily for the environment).
